North Island Road Trip
I recently had a thirteen-day road trip from Marlborough and as far north as Warkworth north of Auckland. The sailing on the ferry from Picton to Wellington was calm, but as I made my way North from Wellington to Taupo the weather deteriorated. For the first week of the trip while travelling to the Coromandel and to Warkworth there was lots of rain and extraordinarily high winds.
On my last full day in the Warkworth region the weather cleared enough to explore the region and take some photographs. I then made my way down to Hamilton where I spent two mornings exploring and taking photographs in the Hamilton Gardens. The gardens are amazing, they did get quite busy with tourist buses and lots of families due to the school holidays.
The final leg of the trip was traveling from Hamilton to Wellington, stopping at Taupo to visit Huka Falls and stopping along the Desert Rd, as there was clear views of both Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe.
The trip was very enjoyable, and was great to catch up with family, friends, and with old school friends at the class school reunion that was organized in the Warkworth region.
